This rich Verdejo is very complex due to its time in French oak. The beautiful fruit notes of citrus (lemon and lime) and stone fruits are complemented by wonderful minerality and hints of herbs and vanilla spice. Everything is in balance and nicely integrated. Enjoy now, or in another year or two. Pair with chicken, fish, or pasta dishes with rich sauces.
To speak about Reina de Castilla is to speak about centuries of history and of entire generations dedicated to the viticulture in the villa of La Seca.
Small and big familiar vineyards of long tradition, have united their experience and wisdom in this new cooperative company inspired by the admirable entrepreneurship of the most innovative women of his time, as Urraca I, Beatriz de Portugal, Isabel la Católica or his daughter; Juana I de Castilla.
These seasoned queens surrendered to their noble causes, they promoted the Castilian expansion and the discovery of new worlds, changing the history of these lands and gaining the respect of everybody. Objectives all of them that the descendants from those medieval wineries try to follow in the Cooperative Reina de Castilla winery, by joining their forces to obtain great wines that cross borders, elaborated with the best inherited knowledge and with the impulse and the freshness that the new technologies contribute with.
The ancient vineyards, composed by vines of more than 20 years old (averaging 50 years old), ripe and full of essential grapes (Verdejo, Viura and Sauvignon Blanc) for a splendid wine production. In fact, Reina de Castilla has a capacity of 2,000,000 of liters per year.
Nature, art and mastery is what we can admire in this typically Castilian landscape, prepared to confront and take advantage of what the climate usually has to offer; overwhelming heat in summer, icy cold in winter and temperate spring full of color, symbol of the new reborn of the fields.
