Mas Llunes is a family winery located in the north-east of Catalonia, in Albera’s natural countryside, within Empordà DO. The Pyrenees, to the north and the Mediterranean Sea, to the south makes their region a truly unique place, linking the coast to the mountains.
The family’s story goes back over 700 years, when their ancestors were already working the land in the village, Garriguella. Today they are still pursuing their dream, making modern wines and at the same time, keeping tradition.
They only use grapes grown in the vineyards they own to make all their wines. They prioritize the local varieties such as Grenache and Carignan to make wines with Empordà character, working following integrated production by using natural resources and regulating mechanisms to replace polluting inputs.
The land offers an extremely rich slaty soil, high sun exposure and a strong northern wind called Tramuntana, conditions that give their wines personality, freshness and a high concentration.
