Intense bouquet of mature red berries fruits. Well-balanced with good structure and nice length with fruity flavors.

Winery Details

In 1997, in our early twenties, we arrived in Tuscany with the ambition of conquering a vineyard in a prestigious region, falling in love instead, at first sight, with Pitigliano: a farmhouse with a few hectares of vineyard and the enchantment of nature and history that speaks through everything.

How not to be impressed by the tuff caves dug by the Etruscans, transformed into cellars, which scrutinize green and wild gorges or by the unique composition of the pale soil of volcanic origin that stands out against blinding blue skies?

Tenuta Rompicollo in Pitigliano is 66 hectares of vineyards and woods where we started producing the first Tuscan wines and where we restored the farmhouse that now houses the Poggio al Tufo farmhouse.

It is in the Rompicollo vineyard that we commissioned the first pedoclimatic research, which has now become the standard for evaluating each of our vineyards in Italy. From the final zoning, we have planted the vineyards with clones of both native and international varieties, permitted in the production rules for IGT wines from Maremma.

The award-winning red Toscano IGT Rompicollo comes from the Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, where the soil and exposure allow for a long and full ripening.

The remaining vineyards are planted with Vermentino and Alicante, two significant indigenous to the area.
