It's a newly-approved AVA (American Viticultural Area) that's fast becoming the superstar of the wine scene. The temperature here can shift 50 degrees throughout a single day - but it's the region's famous wind that creates the grapes' incredible, unique flavor.
When describing how this natural phenomenon generates such a distinctive product, local growers simply say "wind to wine". Under these gently windswept conditions, the grapes grow in smaller bunches and develop thicker skins. Since phenolic compounds are more prevalent in the skins, the flavor of the grapes is notably intensified.

Of the 60 acres of Avid Vineyard territory in the Petaluma Gap, which is cooperative with Acoya, 10 are planted with our premium Pinot Noir grapes. They're estate-grown under meticulous management to ensure the finest quality and optimal maturity at the time of harvest. We believe this produces an exceptional Pinot Noir that is both tantalizingly daring and effortlessly drinkable.
