Tasting Notes
This wine pours a beautiful violet color with red hues. The nose greets you with a spicy bouquet showcasing prune, wild ivy, and leather along with pine and cinnamon notes, common with the terroir. On the palate, this wine is mature and poignant. It develops aromas of dark fruits balanced by silky tannins. Humagne Rouge pairs wonderfully with fresh game, grilled meats, wild fowl, and hard cheeses.
Winery Details
Known in Italy under the name Cornalin d’Aoste, Humagne Rouge is not, despite strong legends, related to Ouriou, Humagne Blanche or the valaisan Cornalin. Now exclusively grown in Valais, this specialty has long been considered marginal. Over the past 20 years, it has encountered renewed interest and its planted area increases every year.
